Connect With Jody

A candid conversation on the cost of holding everything together so tightly there is no room left for the person inside.  SE EP2

Midlife burnout does not always look like collapse. Sometimes it looks like your best performance yet. This guest conversation with Jody Arran Brooks, Jay Shetty Certified Life Coach, and Wes Towers explores exactly that.

Wes was 47, running a successful agency, and crying under his desk before the biggest meeting of his career. He closed the deal. Then he finally asked what it was really costing him.

In this Season 3 episode on Trust, one of the Nine Principles of Authentic Living:

  • Why the things you fight hardest for may be measuring your uncertainty
  • How performing confidence for years eventually demands a reckoning
  • What happens when you stop over-investing in your work and it actually improves
  • Why more than one thing can be true at the same time

Messy Midlife: It's Not a Crisis, It's a Calling to Connect. Hosted by Jody Arran Brooks, a UK-based Jay Shetty Certified Life Coach and midlife transition specialist. Wes Towers built Uplift 360 from the ground up, growing a digital and SEO agency that has competed for major clients in Australia for two decades. At 47, he has lived through business disruption, a valuation shock from AI, and a deeper disruption: examining beliefs he inherited rather than chose.

Growing up inside a controlling religious community, Wes spent years carrying a version of himself built by other people's maps. The moment of reckoning came when a trusted mentor who was gay made the gap between the teaching and his own values impossible to ignore. The dissolution that followed was painful. What came after , rebuilding friendships, reclaiming health, opening his team into conversations he had once shut down , turned out to be more generative than holding everything together had ever been.

Wes speaks from the experience of a person who discovered that the grip that looks like confidence can measure exactly how unsure you really are. His work at Uplift 360 and his story are inseparable: both are about building something real on ground that belongs to you.

Wes Towers is the founder and principal of Uplift 360, a digital and SEO agency based in Australia.
